Explore how HOENSOEY’s smart drainage solution is revolutionizing wastewater management and environmental sustainability in urban spaces.
Water-related issues can often have their roots on dry land. Nowhere is this truer than in residential communities where wastewater, instead of being directed to sewage lines, may mix with rainwater that’s meant to flow directly into lakes. As a designer at the forefront of this issue, let me take you through how the cutting-edge HOENSOEY system is changing the game in precision rainwater and wastewater separation.
At the heart of our approach is the idea of “problem-oriented renovation” – ensuring that rainwater and wastewater each find their rightful paths. We’re taking strides towards this goal in the Jinxui Longcheng community in the Donghu High-tech Zone, under the watchful eye of the local environmental water affairs bureau.
We’re guided by a principle of meeting standards at each outflow and connection point, with the aim of successively upgrading small catchment areas. This approach, we believe, will ultimately help us achieve the goal of standard water quality at the lake’s entry point. After a comprehensive investigation into the Nanhu catchment area, we’ve identified 54 districts with misconnections between rainwater and wastewater. Our plan is to rectify these issues by the end of June.
At the core of our innovative solution is the HOENSOEY smart rainwater and wastewater separator. This clever device, which looks like a square well on the surface, connects to the balcony downpipes and rainwater pipes of the building for drainage. Inside this device is a small sluice-like mechanism. On dry days, the internal gate seals off the rainwater pipe to prevent wastewater from flowing into it. On rainy days, as water fills the collection well and enters the separator, a rise in water level lifts a float that triggers the gate to open. This way, rainwater and wastewater go their separate ways regardless of the weather.
In addition, the HOENSOEY Stormwater Module Cells capture and store rainwater underground, preventing runoff and enabling reuse, helping to create an optimal modern ecological space.
The HOENSOEY system is particularly beneficial for high-rise buildings where scaffold construction for pipe transformation can pose safety risks. With different structural configurations in various districts, precision rainwater and wastewater separation needs to adapt to local conditions. For buildings with mature construction conditions, we completely separate the original mixed pipes. For those where pipe installation is challenging, we install the smart separators.
The South Lake pipeline system improvement project, which includes wastewater pipe defect repair, outfall management, and targeted remediation of point source pollution, is an integral part of our problem-oriented, root-cause finding approach. With clear timelines, we aim to ensure effective implementation.
The HOENSOEY system is a breakthrough in drainage solutions. By providing a smarter, more sustainable way of separating and managing rainwater and wastewater, it represents a significant leap forward in environmental sustainability and water management. I invite you to join us in this revolution, as we redefine what’s possible in urban drainage systems.
